Kia ora,
Welcome to the June edition of the HealthTech Activator (HTA) Monthly Wrap.
As the month comes to a close, we find ourselves at an important milestone for New Zealand's healthtech ecosystem.
Next week, HealthTech Week 2026 will bring together innovators, researchers, clinicians, investors and industry leaders from across Aotearoa. It also marks the beginning of a new chapter, with HealthTech Activator activities transitioning to the New Zealand Institute for Advanced Technology (NZIAT) from 1 July 2026.
As we prepare for this transition, we'd like to reflect on HTA's journey within Callaghan Innovation, thank everyone who has contributed to the growth of New Zealand's healthtech sector, and share a few final updates from the HTA team.
Throughout the transition, engagement with the healthtech ecosystem will continue, with existing activities, resources, expertise and connections remaining available while planning progresses around how HTA capabilities will operate within NZIAT's broader advanced technology focus.
Next Week is HealthTech Week 2026
From 29 June to 3 July, HealthTech Week will bring together the people, ideas and organisations shaping the future of health technology in New Zealand.
The HealthTech Activator team will be attending the Te Tītoki Mataora Forum from 1–3 July at the Hilton Auckland. Designed for the early-stage healthtech commercialisation community, the forum brings together researchers, clinicians, start-ups, investors, government representatives and ecosystem enablers to explore the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of New Zealand healthtech.
If you're attending, we'd love to connect. Come and chat with the HTA team to learn more about the support, resources and expert connections available to help healthtech innovators progress from research and development through to commercialisation.
We look forward to seeing many of you there as we celebrate the innovation, ambition and collaboration driving New Zealand healthtech forward.
The HealthTech Activator Transitions to NZIAT
From 1 July 2026, HealthTech Activator activities will transition to the NZIAT.
Since 2020, the HTA has focused on building capability, strengthening connections, and supporting commercialisation across New Zealand's healthtech ecosystem. Together, we have:
These achievements reflect the strength of New Zealand's healthtech community and the willingness of innovators, experts and industry leaders to share knowledge, build connections, and support one another.
As we transition to NZIAT, our focus remains on supporting the growth of New Zealand's advanced technology sectors through capability development, industry engagement and commercialisation support.
We look forward to continuing this work and supporting the next generation of healthtech innovation.
