Trade update
The Port of Brisbane welcomed MSC’s new Eagle Service with the arrival of the MV Etoile containership – the first vessel of the new service – to Patrick Terminal’s Brisbane Autostrad in early February. The new weekly service adds an additional direct connection to and from the East Coast of the United States, strengthening our global trade links, expanding capacity, and supporting exporters and importers across the Port. More than 20 individual shipping lines operate regular liner services to the Port of Brisbane, alongside numerous bulk and general cargo vessels, connecting Queensland trade with the world.
Safety Leaders Group reinvigorated
Our reinvigorated Port of Brisbane Safety Leaders Group brings together health, safety and wellbeing representatives from across the port community to collaborate on shared priorities.
Meeting quarterly, the group provides a forum to exchange learnings, strengthen safety leadership, and support capability development across the Port of Brisbane.
Thank you to everyone who joined the first meeting in February and contributed to constructive conversations that reinforce our safety first culture.
If your organisation is part of the port community and would like to participate, please email Andrew Beckman, Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
Whyte Island tree planting day
Volunteers were out in force in February to plant 700 trees at our Whyte Island environmental area where a multi-year project is underway to rehabilitate coastal port land that supports saltmarsh, mangrove and woodland habitats. Together with our long-standing partner, Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C), we’ve now planted more than 12,000 native plants at Whyte Island, helping to rehabilitate this important area.
Thank you to the volunteers from our customer Hutchison Ports Australia and partner Ventia, who lent a hand on the day.
Applications now open $100,000 Community Grant Program
Do you know a local organisation that could use grant funding? A total of $100,000 in funding is on offer for eligible organisations and registered not-for-profits through our Community Grant Program, with up to $15,000 available for individual initiatives. Last year we supported 12 organisations from Brisbane’s Bayside to southern Queensland, working to uplift youth, provide essential assistance to families, preserve local history and lead citizen science initiatives in the community.
We encourage organisations focused on community wellbeing, education, the environment, arts and culture to consider submitting an application, with First Nations organisations strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications close Thursday 30 April. Please email us at info@portbris.com.au or call our team on 3258 4888 for more information.
