Road extension projects continue across Fisherman Islands
Two road extension projects are currently underway on Fisherman Islands, expanding our road network across the Port. Curlew Street road extension works recently commenced, and Lucinda Drive extension works are continuing with power, comms, water and sewer along the new road alignment now being installed.
The new roads are designed to handle the Port's anticipated traffic loads for the next generation of port logistics. Earlier this month, project teams enjoyed a 'tools down' onsite for a BBQ lunch to thank our port team and project delivery partners for the progress to date. Once complete, the road extensions will open up access to new land within the Future Port Expansion area, enabling the continued development of the Port to support trade and customer growth. Patrick Terminals celebrates 20 years of automation in BrisbaneOn 1 December 2025, our customer Patrick Terminals will mark 20 years since the opening of the Patrick Brisbane AutoStrad Terminal, a milestone that revolutionised container handling in Australia. To commemorate this achievement, Patrick Terminals has restored the very first AutoStrad, AB01, now proudly displayed at its Fisherman Islands terminal as a tribute to two decades of innovation and operational excellence. In 2014, Port of Brisbane became the first port in Australia where all stevedores operate with automated container handling equipment, paving the way for advancements that continue to shape the future of our industry. Congratulations, Patrick Terminals! PBPL wins Environmental Award at DCN Awards
Our Saltmarsh Rehabilitation Project won the Environmental Award at this year’s DCN Industry Awards, recognising over a decade of work by our Environmental Team and partners to restore this vital marine habitat. Work undertaken at the site near the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal has increased saltmarsh and mangrove coverage and improved overall vegetation health to support diverse bird species. PBPL was also Highly Commended for Port or Terminal of the Year, and our Logistics & Project Cargo Manager, Nicola Murray, was recognised as a finalist in the Women in Shipping & Maritime Logistics category. Congratulations also to our customer OOCL – winner of this year’s Liner Trade from Australia to North East Asia Award, proudly sponsored by Port of Brisbane.
