TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Materials handling: raising the bar for reliability and performance

Materials handling in mining involves complex interactions among billions of particles, challenging even the most experienced operators. At Delonix Solutions, we approach this challenge from applied particle physics and smart flowsheets, managing segregation, impact, abrasion and flow.

Across the industry, cost blowouts and reduced plant capacity often stem from poor utilisation and unplanned shutdowns caused by equipment degradation and process failures. Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance help identify and address many stoppages before they impact performance.

To address these challenges, Delonix Solutions delivers effective, fast-tracked crushing and comminution systems by combining process engineering, advanced digital modelling and off-site construction. Our engineering team uses a well-defined system and specialised tools to design solutions optimised for performance, efficiency, safety, reliability and cost effectiveness, reducing time and risks on site.

Every project begins with thorough ore characterisation and flowsheet analysis, followed by simulation and validation using industry-leading tools such as discrete element modelling, finite element analysis and dynamic conveyor studies. For highly cohesive ore, scale modelling or physical testing may also be required to ensure reliable performance.

This integrated approach delivers predictable performance, improved safety and greater cost certainty for high-throughput processing plants. High-resolution digital twins provide a single source of truth for design, operations and maintenance, supporting data-driven reliability and streamlined asset management.

What sets Delonix Solutions apart is our commitment to helping clients achieve safer commissioning, higher availability and measurable improvements in sustainability. Clients benefit from a clear pathway to operational excellence, supported by reliable, high-performance materials handling systems designed for the future of mining.

We invite you to discover how our approach can help your next project achieve its full potential.

MINING WRAP-UP

November: critical minerals alliances, renewable milestones and iron ore firsts

Australia strengthened its critical minerals alliances, signing a collaboration agreement with Canada to secure supply chains for rare earths and other strategic resources. Alcoa announced a $307m investment in gallium production, reinforcing Western supply security.

Rio Tinto’s Simandou joint venture shipped its first iron ore, marking a major milestone for the world’s largest undeveloped iron ore reserve, as the mining giant put the Jadar Valley lithium project in Serbia on hold. In renewables, Bellevue Gold achieved more than 100 hours of continuous operation on 100% renewable power, while Zenith Energy advances plans to deliver hybrid renewable power to Northern Star Resources’ Super Pit.

Mineral Resources
agreed to sell 30% of its lithium joint venture vehicle, which holds its 50% stakes in Wodgina and Mt Marion, to South Korea’s POSCO Holdings. The miner’s managing director Chris Ellison will remain in his role indefinitely. Vault Minerals will transition King of the Hills to an owner-operator model from next year to improve cost control and operational flexibility.

BHP withdrew its latest takeover bid for Anglo American, Anglo’s shareholders approving the Teck Resources merger, with the new global critical minerals player Anglo Teck having more than 70% exposure to copper. In separate news, BHP was found liable in the UK for the 2015 Brazil dam disaster and has confirmed plans to appeal.

As we wrap up 2025, major consolidations in gold included
Northern Star‘s $5b acquisition of De Grey Mining, Gold Fields‘ $3.9b takeover of Gold Road Resources and Ramelius Resources purchasing Spartan Resources for $2.4b.
