This month Focus on Procurement was privileged to interview Oscar Lloyd, New Zealand Government Procurement principal procurement specialist and Pradeep Kumar, Mangakōtukuku College Board business manager.

The Government Procurement Practitioner’s Competency Framework is now live

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Government Procurement Practitioner’s Competency Framework.

These new tools and guidance will help procurement practitioners with their professional development.

The assessment helps procurement professionals identify learning priorities. The learning guide suggests actions to build on the skills and knowledge needed to work in procurement competently and confidently.

The tools were developed in collaboration with procurement experts from around the government procurement sector.

The framework is available on our website.

New provider for the procurement graduate programme starts

Over the past year, we’ve worked with the system to shape the future of the New Zealand Government Procurement graduate programme.

Augment Resources has been selected to deliver the graduate programme from 2026 to 2029.

In early February NZGP joined with Augment to welcome 10 new graduates.
Augment will oversee the day-to-day operations of the programme. The graduates will continue to rotate through government agencies and benefit from a wide range of development opportunities.

If you’re interested to learn more about the graduate programme, get in touch with us via our website or our email.

Turning PCI insights into action – help shape your industry’s capability for 2026

Take an opportunity to build what you want to work in.

The 2025 PCI survey is now open.

This is your chance to leave a mark and shape capability building in your field in a world that is going to increasingly rely on it.

Complete the survey today to help shape the future of procurement capability across government.

Previous survey respondents have been responsible for several initiatives including the launch of 5 ‘Contract Management Fundamentals’ modules on Hīkina to address gaps in contract management systems, and refreshed learning templates to support professional development.

We’re committed to using the PCI insights to drive real improvements in procurement capability.

If you require a copy of your online survey link or have any questions, email us.
