Round 4 - application assessments in progress

We have received over 2,600 applications in this round in total, with the breakdown of received applications by tier published on the Austrade website.

Most applications have been assessed, while the remainder are being assessed in the order they were received.

Grant offers

As at 29 July 2025, we have made grant offers to more than 1,870 eligible applicants across all tiers, with 1,835 grant agreements executed and $185.3 million committed to date across the two years.

We continue to assess applications and offer grant agreements, as well as manage requests for review of decisions from applicants that have been deemed ineligible. Ineligible applicants have 30 days to request a review of the decision. This process takes time, and Austrade needs to reserve funds for those applications being reviewed.

We will endeavour to offer grant agreements to as many eligible applicants as possible. We may offer grant agreements for one year. Some applicants may miss out on being offered a grant now and may be placed on a waiting list should funding become available later in 2025-26.

Applications still to be assessed

We thank applicants and grant agents for your patience as we are completing the assessment and review of decision processes, with the majority of those already completed. If you have not heard from us about your application, we will endeavour to advise you of the outcome as soon as we can.

The EMDG online portal also provides you with visibility of the status of your application after you log in. Status descriptions that you may see in the portal for your application include:

  • Submitted - Submitted to Austrade for assessment
  • Assessment in progress - Currently being assessed for eligibility by Austrade
  • Unsuccessful - Unsuccessful for a grant agreement offer
  • Pending grant agreement - Assessed with a grant offer yet to be made
  • Grant agreement issued - Grant agreement offer has been provided to the applicant
  • Withdrawn - Applicant has withdrawn the application
  • Funding exhausted - Application not assessed. This is because the available funding has been fully allocated to successful applicants in the order of receipt.

It’s important to note that an application is only successful once a grant agreement has been offered by Austrade.

More information

We have updated our website on the status of Round 4 activities and will continue to provide regular updates.

We also regularly publish details of executed grant agreements on GrantConnect.

Have your say: EMDG Independent Review

Now is your chance to help improve how the EMDG program supports Australian businesses and their representative bodies as part of this Independent Review (the review).

The review will consider changes made since the last legislated review in July 2020 and explore opportunities for continuous improvement in the program’s operation and delivery.

We are seeking feedback from EMDG recipients, businesses and other interested stakeholders to guide this review and support government decision making.
