Today, Australia and the European Union (EU) concluded negotiations on a landmark free trade agreement that will strengthen Australiaβs economic and strategic partnership with the EU.
The Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement (A-EU FTA) is a comprehensive, progressive and commercially meaningful deal that creates new opportunities for Australians to export their goods and services to a high-income market of around 450 million consumers.
Once fully implemented, 98% of the current value of Australiaβs goods exports will enter the EU duty-free. The agreement will open doors into the EU for premium, sustainable Australian agricultural products and processed foods. These include key commodities such as beef, sheep meat, sugar, grains, nuts, horticulture, dairy, seafood and wine.
